SalahBreak is a prayer companion built for Muslims who want their salah to live alongside the rest of their day on their Apple devices. This page describes exactly what data the app touches, where it lives, and what we do not do with it. Plain language, no dark patterns.
What stays on your device
By default, everything. Prayer times are computed locally from your location. Your streak, settings, and logs live in app storage on the device and (optionally) in your private iCloud container that only you can read. We do not operate a server that receives your data.
Location
We ask for one-time or "while using" location access to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. The coordinate stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can revoke access in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, SalahBreak. Without location you can enter a city manually.
Health data (HealthKit)
When you grant permission, SalahBreak writes a "Mindful Minutes" sample to Apple's HealthKit on your device every time you log a completed prayer. We do not read any other Health data. We do not transmit Health data off your device. We do not share Health data with third parties. We do not use Health data for advertising or any other secondary purpose. You can revoke the HealthKit permission at any time from iOS Settings, Health, Data Access & Devices, SalahBreak.
Calendar
If you opt in to calendar blocking, SalahBreak writes short "busy" events to your iPhone calendar around iqama time so meetings stop landing on prayer. We only write to the calendar you select. We do not read your other events. Revoke access from iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Calendars.
Notifications
If you grant notification access, we schedule local adhan and reminder notifications on your device. No push server is involved.
What we do not collect
No account, no sign-up, no email collection beyond optional Sign in with Apple (which never reveals your email if you choose private relay).
No analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, no advertising identifiers.
No browsing history, no contacts, no microphone, no camera.
iCloud sync
Optional. When enabled, your streak and settings sync via your private iCloud container using Apple's CloudKit. Only you can read this container. We cannot access it. Disable iCloud sync from in-app settings to stop the sync.
Children
SalahBreak is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal data, so it is safe for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes
If this policy materially changes we will update the "Last updated" date and surface the change in app release notes. The latest version always lives at this URL.
